Fishing on the Roaring Fork

Mt. Sopris in the background.
No, I'm not afraid of it!!  It was a rainbow trout, wiggling and slippery and just after this shot it jumped out of my hands.  Then a bald eagle soared overhead!
We passed this new yearling buck in full velvet.  Awesome!

GIANT EGGS!

To commemorate the recent find of dinosaur bones in Snowmass, the government funded the creation of these concrete "dinosaur" eggs to be placed at each of the valleys' bus stops which will now have heated platforms.
I know what I think of these dinosaur eggs...what about you?
I'll have more stupid government waste of taxpayers dollars, so stay tuned.

Peonies! My favorite!

My favorite spring flower.  These are what I brought into the house tonight.  Awesome!  Too bad they don't last long either in the house or on the bush.

Bruce's first day out on the town and what does he want to play with?

At Lowe's to pick up, of course, batteries, filters and light bulbs, but first he wanted to play pretend farmer.
He got the staples removed and next week is a barium enema to see if the colon is holding together.  What Fun!
He's lost about 20 pounds so the Doc wants to get him put together again asap before he's just skin and bones.
Baby jesus is pretty much gone.  Aborted or just reabsorbed.

Update on the Wonder of the World

I have almost two sets of true leaves to be able to transplant.  Lots of friends want a plant so I think I can get maybe ten plants out of this lot.  Maybe more like five will survive.  Kind of like Robins...

Nest of baby Robins

There are three babies.
Fun facts about Robins...there's a 50% mortality rate once they leave the nest.  The average life of a Robin is 1.7 years.  The oldest Robin you may have in your yard could be 6 years old.

update 6/8/13...Good thing I took this picture when I did because one baby bird either got kicked out of the nest, or fell out.  Landed okay on the deck and flew off.  He'll probably be one of 50% mortality rate  :-(.

Basalt Community Garden

Notice the 8 foot high deer/bear perimeter fencing, shed for tools, etc.  Our plot is directly in the middle of the photo; planted with basil, mint, dill, tomato, lettuces, chard, kale, bell pepper and the like.  Bruce made it through day 7.   Staples & drainage tube to be removed 6/12.

Mt. Sopris enveloped in smog from wildfires

Usually this 13,953 foot high mountain just outside Carbondale, Colorado looks like a shining beacon but today it looked like Los Angeles.

Wildfires north of LA and in New Mexico are the contributors of the smog evident in Colorado.
